Many broadcasters from the Asia-Pacific region were asking what Masahiko Kato would be doing next after working with Hitachi Kokusai entities around the world for many years, most recently as general manager of Video and Communications Systems, Hitachi Kokusai Electric, Tokyo?
After a sales career spanning 37 years, including 19 years working overseas, Kato has built an extensive knowledge of the broadcast and live production market.
At Inter BEE 2018 last month, he appeared as Gearhouse Broadcast’s business development director for Asia. His new job is to help Asian broadcasters gear up to cover the Summer Olympics 2020 in Tokyo, among many other mega sporting events in the region.
“It’s an exciting new challenge for me with big events such as Asian Games, SEA Games, Olympics, eSports and so forth happening in the Asian market,” said Kato.
“My primary responsibility is to support senior management as the company diversifies into new markets and territories.
“I’ll also be helping to expand Gearhouse Broadcast’s range of services to customers in Asia,” he shared, adding that with 19 years’ experience working overseas, five years of which in Singapore covering South-east Asia sales, he is all set to take emerging technologies and technical insights to broadcasters, content creators and rights owners in the Asia-Pacific region.
